Success and being Important

I have a huge challenge ahead of me with all this work I have to do at university now. I want to do well, but its so hard to tailor it to what they want from you.. But at the same time I am strangely relaxed (I sometimes get very stressed). It has to be put in to perspective of life in general - life is a beautiful delicate thing... its difficult to explain. These sorts of things really aren’t the most important in life.. you have to make your own mind up about that, instead of what society tells you. I want to do this degree so I can use my knowledge to help with some pressing issues in the world, but I can only do my best. If I am afraid its because I want something else, the feeling of success etc.
I was reading an article about illusion - about wanting to draw attention to oneself once you get in to power, (or before) and then that detracts focus from any good work you are trying to do. And thinking you are more important or greater than other people is an illusion, and seeing it in yourself is the most difficult thing. What do people think about that?

But, at the same time, there is an equivalent (and possibly larger for women) danger of being afraid of ego and power. Being overly humble can equally undercut your ability to be effective (and in a weird sense can also become a point of pride, e.g. "I am the most humble person alive"). It's a tough tightrope to walk.

The hardest thing is to not overprocess yourself and just stayed focused on doing the best you can and being open to other's ideas and opnions.

I agree you.............
I agree your things written above. Everyperson want to be successful and no doubt it is you or I. The main thing is how we present ourselves after reaching to the top.

I appreciate your desire of working for most pressing issues of the world. But, to the people from the developing countries like us, have higer inspiritions and visions to work for betterment but our time ends till we get success to get out of the viscious situation of problems around us. What you say about this?

HI, just read your article comment now sorry its a bit late :)
I think its not about getting success, its about the internal attitude you have to it inside yourself... whether you are attached to it, and it becomes more important than helping people on occasions.

I think its the same for me really even being in a developed country, I struggle to find money to survive for the next months because of what i do... I have to think about success to get to a position where i can make more of a difference..
I think its not about achieving success, but the internal approach you have to it... you always have to ask yourself what are my motives mostly? Is it for pride reasons, or because I really want to help people? there is always a bit of pride but you have to be careful when the desire for power gets in the way of serving others in the best way...
its a problem that most human beings in power have fallen prey to... a lot of our problems now and in history can be traced back to this very thing.. look at Bush and Blair... look at president Musharraf in Pakistan..

thats why its so important and we have to be so careful and learn from this mistake... and be the change.. dealing with the root of the problem... which is inside all of us
